Hannah Woolcott

BA Politics & International Relations, 2016

FORMER PRESIDENT, GREENWICH STUDENTS’ UNION RAG

“The University of Greenwich has been the best time of my life. It helped me develop my ideas, challenge my views and develop a passion for the third sector and charity work.”

Hannah Woolcott is a former Student Union Volunteering Officer, RAG President and politics student.

“People automatically think I want to become the next PM or a manipulative spin doctor, however these aren’t what I dream of doing. I want to improve the world by making people think and influencing those in charge.

“My plan is to work for a campaigning charity leading nationwide campaigns on big issues.”

Hannah established the university’s CoppaFeel! Society, part of the national charity founded by Kris Hallenga to raise awareness about breast cancer in young people. The charity applauded her efforts as Uni Boob champion, leading “a range of amazing events from cheerleading and ‘Take Me Out’ to a ‘Mean Girls’ evening and a 48 hour takeover of Radio Latitude (which alone raised £1,678!). Who said students were slackers?!”

As RAG President, Hannah has worked closely with her committee and student societies to raise as much money for charities as possible. She provides training, leads treks, manages an extensive roster of events and is behind many a pub quiz and karaoke night. This dovetails with her role as volunteering officer, creating opportunities and incentives for students to get work experience at the same time as having fun.

“The University of Greenwich has been the best time of my life. It helped me develop my ideas, challenge my views and develop a passion for the third sector and charity work.”

“I met groups of people I would never meet in any other situation and network with politicians and leaders. This university has helped me grow as an adult.”

“To new students I’d say: throw yourself into the lifestyle, get involved as much as possible. Try new things as you never know, you might find your passion.”
