Two brand-new mentoring schemes launch in 2020

The university’s Employability and Careers Service has launched two brand-new student mentoring schemes and are seeking alumni who would like to take part as mentors!

SPARK Mentoring (For the Faculty of Engineering and Science)

This 1:1 scheme matches those in industry with a student for a 4-6-month period. It is open to anyone with an engineering or science background. Mentoring can happen face to face or remotely and full training is provided.

The deadline for applications is Friday 14 March at 17:00.

SHARE Group Mentoring (For the Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences)

This group event invites anyone with a background in education, health or human sciences to join a mentor panel beginning in March 2020. This event consists of a panel discussion, Q+A and networking reception. Travel subsides are available to all attendees.

If you’re interested in participating in either scheme or if you’d like more information please contact Emma Pleasant, Careers Mentoring Officer, by email at

Are you already registered to be a mentor? If you’ve responded to previous calls to mentor then thank you. Some schemes, such as the Faculty of Business’ Career Mentoring scheme, run in two phases with the second phase beginning later this year.
