Sylvia Marshall
MA Strategic Human Resource Development, 2002
FOUNDER AND MANAGING DIRECTOR OF ZERO TO A MILLION CLUB
“Greenwich offers amazing professional development opportunities for mature students like me, who did not come through the traditional study routes.”
Sylvia is one of the UK’s leading entrepreneurs, having founded many successful businesses. These have ranged from strategic business consultancy to restoration, renovation and DIY.
The diversity and success of her enterprises has led to regular appearances in the media, including BBC 1 television series Britain’s Empty Homes and a regular business advice column in the Daily Mirror.
As a female business leader, she is passionate in the belief that this is possible for anyone. This led her to write her book Zero to a Million. As an affordable template for success, this quickly became a best-seller in business books and launched Sylvia’s career as an international speaker.
Sylvia is also a financial trader and considers this to be an “ideal business for women of my age”. She founded zerotoamillionclub.com where she coaches women over 40 to trade the financial markets and has recently been awarded the title of ‘Best Female Trader’ in a global competition.
Doing things differently has been a hallmark of her success, leading to her being awarded a lifetime achievement award in 2007 from the National Sales Awards and again in 2017 from the Professional Sales Awards, ASA Photographic, such is the diversity of her businesses.
Sylvia is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and the Institute of Directors.
