Thom Will

BA Public Relations, 2011

ACCOUNT DIRECTOR

“The first-rate PR degree at Greenwich gave me the academic foundation for a career in the industry, while the PR Fraternity got me a foot in the door. I owe a lot to Greenwich, and am proud to be a part of these vibrant alumni networks.”

As Account Director at IJPR, the UK’s leading television PR agency, Thom is a rising star in the field of public relations. In 2017, he was named as one of the Edinburgh International Television Festival’s ‘Ones to Watch’, which recognises the next generation of industry leaders in TV.

On leaving Greenwich in 2011, Thom worked on the launch of BBC One’s Call the Midwife. Thom has since led campaigns for dramas including The Missing, The Hollow Crown and Wallander for the BBC, and Liar for ITV. Working with US networks including HBO, Starz and Netflix, Thom’s wealth of communications experience in international co-production has made him a valuable asset to broadcasters on both sides of the Atlantic.

Thom is a founding member of the university PR Fraternity (2011), working with then Senior Lecturer Paul Simpson to set up the group as a means to expand the professional networks of PR students.

Through the PR Fraternity network, Thom met IJPR director Ian Johnson and was bold enough to ask for a job. That conversation led to an internship and soon his first paid role in the company as an assistant working three days a week throughout his final year.

Thom says: “The first-rate PR degree at Greenwich gave me the academic foundation for a career in the industry, while the PR Fraternity got me a foot in the door. I owe a lot to Greenwich, and am proud to be a part of these vibrant alumni networks.”
