Greenwich Portraits and Snapshots FAQs

Throughout the year, staff, students and alumni can nominate alumni to become a Greenwich Portrait by completing the short nomination form online.

Successful submissions will be shortlisted and scheduled for photography. We will work with alumni to develop their story in writing.

Greenwich Snapshots are shorter case-studies designed to capture specific memories, experiences and learnings from your time as a student. You do not need to be nominated – you just need to have a story you want to share with the Greenwich community.

Alumni can submit their Greenwich Snapshot online. Please note the Alumni and Fundraising Office reserve the right to edit your submission for brevity.

Please provide a colour image which should be a headshot of yourself against a plain background. Please ensure that you have obtained copyright permission from the photographer (if applicable). You can submit your image via the online submission form. The format should be jpg/jpeg/gif/png, and maximum file size should be 5MB.

We aim to publish all Greenwich Snapshots received, however, this depends on whether you’ve completed the online form adequately and provided a high-quality photograph. Once your submission has been received, you will be notified by a member of the Alumni and Fundraising Office whether your submission will be proceeded with. Please note the Alumni and Fundraising Office also reserves the right to edit your submission for brevity.

We will review Greenwich Portrait submissions every month and will confirm whether we will be able to proceed. This decision will largely depend on the team to create a balanced collection of Portraits.

If for any reason, we are not able to proceed with the nomination, we will also confirm and provide feedback.

A member of the Alumni and Fundraising Office will contact you when your submission has been published, sharing the link to your Snapshot profile. Once published, we encourage you to share your Snapshot with your friends, networks and on social media. You can view all current published Snapshots here.

Greenwich Portraits are scheduled at different stages of the year and depend on the availability of alumni. We will check your availability once we have confirmed our shortlist.

Snapshots may be used for promotional, advertising or educational purposes by the University of Greenwich, either on or off-campus.

Yes, please email us at any time (alumni@gre.ac.uk). We will then ensure that the University of Greenwich no longer uses your material.
