Memories of Greenwich

It was exciting to be out and about in the local area with a lot to see and do. I saw many developments and regeneration over the years including the Millennium Dome (now The O2), and construction of the Docklands Light Railway. I made some of the best friendships which I have maintained to this day, while I lived around Greenwich for over 10 years after I graduated and had family members join me there too.

I was offered a place at Greenwich through clearing, and this gave me hope during a challenging time when I did not achieve the grades for my original university choice. My time at the university was a great one and I enjoyed the warm, welcoming, dynamic, and diverse environment which helped me to learn and embrace the new opportunities in a different environment.

Life after Greenwich

2022 marks 20 years since I graduated and the alumni network continues to offer valuable support, resources, inspiration, and is a great community to be part of.

Following my studies, I worked in the industry at a Contract Research Organisation specialising in Clinical Research and Drug Development across various roles covering laboratory, project management and data management. I also have work experience in the NHS conducting research across hospital sites.

I then took on roles with community pharmacy services, trade associations, and regulatory authorities. I gained further experience in science/health policy, stakeholder engagement, strategy management, regulatory affairs and pharmacovigilance. In the last two years I have focused on professional development and training while working on independent projects and consulting on a freelance basis.

My time at the university helped me develop independence as a young adult living far from home and I learnt from experience to have hope, strength, resilience, determination, and to work hard. I am grateful for the career path that was available to me in an industry that is thriving and changing lives with better outcomes for healthcare.

I aspire to apply my existing knowledge and skills using current emerging tools in project management, digital transformation and business analysis that will enable me add value and make a positive contribution in the community.
