“Before joining University of Greenwich I knew who I was, but after graduating I now realise who I can be and what difference I can make.”

Memories of Greenwich

This photo reminds me of a girl who took a huge decision in her life to come across the world, alone, to chase her dream. It was not easy for me leaving my family, friends, and my comfort zone where I had spent my entire life. If I was to sum up this Snapshot in one sentence – I walked, sometimes ran, often fell, but I never stopped!

The most beautiful thing was to study in a World Heritage site. I had the luck to spot some films and TV shows being filmed on campus such as Cruella, Bridgerton, and Enola Holmes. I wish I could have seen the filming of Pirates of the Caribbean, or may be Thor: The Dark World!

Another favourite memory was the Dreadnaught building that was at the heart of my university experience. I miss the days and evenings undertaking research, group work, gossiping – these were some of the best memories of all.

I was impressed by the university’s excellence, standards, high quality teaching, research and the diversity of its students. Studying at Greenwich made me realise I can adapt to any situation. My experiences enhanced my confidence level in a way which I never believed. I found myself more patient, more confident and team-orientated. The support and dedication of staff towards their students is something which made a big difference for me.

Life after Greenwich

After completing my studies, I joined the School of Management & Science Higher Education Group as an Admissions Officer. My role is to help UK and EU students enrol into university. In addition we make sure students receive all the support needed such as file assessment, interview preparation, and advice with student finance applications, so that we can make sure they have an excellent student experience.

I also have a passion for beauty vlogging (my YouTube Channel is Afsana Alam) which I want to develop into a business. The knowledge Greenwich has equipped me with will help me to develop these plans and take my career to the next level.
