Course: BSc Computer Systems and Networking, 2020

Job: Assistant Registrar, Ministry of Home Affairs

My time at Cyber Academy under the direction of the University of Greenwich prepared me well for the next challenges I have chosen to pursue.”

Memories of Greenwich

My fondest memories remind me of a time researching on civil registration and civil identification systems and how countries around the world have implemented these systems of digitized registration systems for their citizens. My research on these systems developed my understanding of how functional civil registration systems aid national identification systems. I also learnt how these two eventdrivenregistration systems inter-operate and help governments maintain internal security and identification of its citizens efficiently and allow for effective service delivery to its citizens.

The teaching staff at the academy were so committed to helping us understand the underlying concepts of the course we were taking. I especially enjoyed the Web Application Development and Network Security courses. The lectures were very interactive and hands on, which the industry right now demands of every graduate.

Life after Greenwich

Since completing my studies I have been planning to further my education and I have now enrolled onto a Masters in Cyber Security. This will allow me to study for industry certifications in Digital Forensics, Penetration Testing and ISO 27001 Certifications

The snapshot I have chosen was taken from a system training session I attended for the new ID system in the Republic of Zambia. I was part of a team that was tasked to assist in the implementation of Zambia’s Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS). My involvement was as a result of my time at Cyber Academy in Lusaka, Zambia, a partner college with the University of Greenwich where I pursued my Computer Systems and Networking degree. I am one of the key members of team that will manage the National ID system which we are implementing in Zambia.
