Course: BSc Business Information Systems, 2019

Job: Cloud Support Specialist

I was lucky enough to represent my cohort as a Programme Representative, where I wanted to promote positivity and inclusivity for all the students on my course. The University gave me a sense of responsibility and challenged me to make positive differences. This enabled me to learn so much and helped to facilitate changes that could improve student experiences in the future

Memories of Greenwich

I took part in my faculty’s mentoring scheme, where I was partnered with a mentor from a leading IT company. This scheme gave me a chance to develop a job application plan which helped me to secure my first job after university.

Whatever I was involved in at university, I always wanted to support my peers and provide positive change to the wider community. I felt that inclusivity and enjoyment go a long way to creating a great university experience.

Graduating with a first class and being nominated as a Programme Rep of the Year at the student awards, were great achievements and showed that all the hard work was worth it in the end.

Life after Greenwich

Since leaving university, I have worked for a small company that provides cloud-based solutions to its clients. I was responsible for managing a feasibility project for a client to see if an on prem video platform could be moved to the cloud. The key focus areas of the study were strategy, infrastructure (technical details such as network latency), and costing, whereby the results would determine whether the system, could be moved in to AWS. This experience has provided an insight into the sense of value that a career in IT will provide in terms of development, responsibility and achievement.

Greenwich helped me to prepare for the working world, whether that was through personal development on my course of study or through participation in extracurricular activities. Not only did Greenwich present opportunities for self-development, it enabled me to give back and make positive change for the wider community.
