“My Snapshot represents the feeling of freedom that Greenwich gave me. The university gave me the chance to make my own choices and chase career paths that really made me happy.”

Memories of Greenwich

Graduation was definitely one of my fondest memories, when I not only received my degree but also my full colours from the football team. In terms of what I miss most, that would have to be the library and the study and social groups we gathered while studying.

I remember I was choosing between University of Central Florida and Greenwich, but decided Greenwich as not only was it closer to Bulgaria but there was a good social life at the university. It turned out to be a really good decision, as I made a lot of friends and learned so much; it was a great experience.

Being able to make friends and share information and learn from each other was one of the best experiences. For new students, I would advise you to keep communicating and keep learning from each other, pay attention to the lectures but going to lectures alone is not enough, you have to put your own hard work in as well.

Life after Greenwich

I graduated and I started working in technical support for a company called Awin. Soon into my time there I reached a ceiling and realised that this was not what I wanted to do.

Alongside my role I was interested in photography, taking small contracts until I got my first development job, where I stood for about 2 and a half years. I grew a lot during this time.

I then moved into another company as a mid-level developer and went through a very intense few months where I would be writing code for 12-16 hours every day, including weekends. I decided to move jobs again and now I am a Senior Developer. It’s funny because it can take a number of years to progress from junior to senior developer positions, but it is really up to your knowledge and approach. Now in this role, I have had the chance to mentor junior developers and this year I will be looking for another candidate to support.

Personally, I really like writing code and designing software solutions, but I also enjoy travelling. Being a developer means that, as long as you have a laptop, you can work from anywhere in the world!
