Course: BA Drama, 2012

Job: Paramedic, St John Ambulance Australia

“My course was particularly enjoyable and close to my heart. Reading at the Bathway Theatre was delightful, and I gained confidence in performing, public speaking, physical theatre, and teamwork.”

Memories of Greenwich

I loved Greenwich because of the setting of the Old Royal Naval College; it’s a beautiful part of London. The Queen’s House, the Royal Observatory, and Greenwich Park all made it a magical place for one’s alma mater.

Living independently in London at McMillan Student Village, overlooking Canary Wharf, was amazing. From there I was able to be involved in extracurricular activities like the University of London Officer Training Corps (ULTOC) and played linebacker for Greenwich Mariners (#55). Later I was a Resident Assistant in Cutty Sark halls of residence and watched the London Marathon go past the famous Flat 6. I was also a Student Ambassador and worked with the Widening Participation Team to reach out to local people considering university.

I’d advise all students to take advantage of extracurricular activities. There are so many things available at university and in London, so use this opportunity to grow your networks.

Life after Greenwich

The photograph is from my wedding in 2020, taken on Bondi Beach. I’ve had the privilege of practicing paramedicine on both sides of the world from the East Anglia coast to the Eastern suburbs of Sydney, Australia.

It’s been a decade since I graduated from Greenwich and my time there was invaluable. I enjoyed a brief time in the entertainment industry immediately after university, acting, directing, and producing many different movies. I eagerly registered on Spotlight & IMDb and still have registrations there today, although I haven’t performed or produced in sometime.

The skills I gained I took with me into a career of public service; first teaching, then into healthcare as a paramedic where I have worked for the past 8 years. I’ve now been all over the world and utilised the medical skills I have gained to assist people in the UK, Holland, and Australia. Hopefully I will be able to pass on the experience I have gained to the next generation and continue to be actively involved in the advancement of paramedicine.
