Memories of Greenwich 

I have many great memories from my time at University of Greenwich and I met a lot of kind and inspiring people from all over the globe. However, one memory that I will always cherish during my time at Greenwich, is being part of a volunteering programme as a mentor for young schoolgirls with low school attainment. 

I came to Greenwich after completing my undergraduate degree at University of Portsmouth. Having decided that I wanted to study a MSc in Criminology and Criminal Psychology, I chose Greenwich due to its great reputation and location. The course was great, and I truly enjoyed all my modules – the lecturers were very engaging while the lectures/seminars themselves were interactive. I developed strong analytical skills and became confident in delivering presentations which is thanks to the lectures, seminars and workshops. This has been especially helpful for my life after Greenwich, particularly now during my current internship. 

Life after Greenwich 

After completing my MSc at the University of Greenwich in September 2019, I applied for an internship at an international organisation supporting law enforcement. I was offered the internship and ready to travel to the destination in Asia, but things took a turn due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the internship had to be postponed. As a result, I moved back to Sweden and started working at a forensic psychiatric facility with mentally disordered offenders. However, 10 months later, I am now doing the internship remotely with the hope to travel to the duty station in the near future.  

Without the continuous support, knowledge, and guidance from my fantastic supervisor and other lecturers from the School of Law and Criminology, I would not be where I am today.  

My advice to current students is embrace the opportunity to network and establish connections with people in your fields of interest, as course leaders, lecturers and supervisors can help you to get where you want to go. Personally, my dissertation supervisor and course leader wrote letters of recommendation, which were of great importance for my internship.
