“This photo perfectly represents me as a student of Greenwich. Our graduation ceremony celebrated each and every student and all our achievements throughout our years at university.”

Memories of Greenwich

When I look back on this photo, I reflect on my time as a student and feel proud of all of my accomplishments.

My fondest memory of being a student at University of Greenwich is probably graduation, as it perfectly summed up all of my years as a student. I feel like everyone was in high spirits, eager to celebrate each other’s successes, feeling proud of our achievements and excited for what the future had in store for us.

I chose to study at Greenwich because of the courses they had to offer. I felt like my interests didn’t fit into one box, but included a wider variety, which is exactly what I feel like my programme had to offer. Not only did my degree lead me to what will become my career path, but the structure also ultimately impacted my choices and decisions after graduating. The course included all aspects within the Digital Media industry, from design, to development and pre-production and I therefore was able to identify where I felt most comfortable.

Life after Greenwich

Following graduation I completed a two-week summer internship at Pulse Creative London, which gave me a lot of industry experience. Soon after I began at Geo Gaming Group as a Junior Web Designer. Within approximately eight months, I got my first promotion and became a Junior Web Designer & Front End Developer.

After nearly three and a half years, I am still at Geo Gaming Group and have since been promoted to Web Designer & Developer. I have also started my own business, Panda Portrayal, where I create custom pet portraits, have an NFT collection and design bespoke greeting cards

As a University of Greenwich graduate, I can definitely see the impact my student life has had on my career. I still utilise the knowledge and skills I gained as a student to this day, such as knowing how to prioritise my time and my work.

A piece of advice that I would give a current student or one that’s about to graduate is to not stress out about the next step, to focus on building up your skillset, to take on any experience that is being offered, and to create connections and communicate, because there’s always something that you can learn from everyone!
