Henry Setter

BSc Psychology, 2018

PRESIDENT, GREENWICH STUDENTS’ UNION, 2019-2020

“The students never fail to impress me. They’ve all got the same hard-working go-getter attitude that you just don’t see in a lot of places. I’m really inspired by that, and that’s why I do my job.”

Born in the nearby Borough of Lewisham, the decision to study at the University of Greenwich after a childhood in Devon was an easy choice to make for Henry. “I fell in love with the students and the atmosphere as soon as I arrived.”

During his Psychology degree Henry held a number of voluntary roles across the Students’ Union including being a Faculty Officer, President of the Badminton Club and Avery Hill Campus Officer. He is now the Student Union’s Welfare Officer. While he jokes that his job means “I can hang around the university for another year”, the opportunity to help students and fight their corner with them, has created great pride in his job.

In 2019 Henry was elected as President of Greenwich Students’ Union. His term runs until June 2020.

It’s this passion for people, fostered during his time at Greenwich, which fuels Henry’s ambition to continue his work and pursue a career in the charity sector. “I work for the student; anyway that I can make a difference, I’ll be doing that.”

Henry thanks the university and union for providing a variety of platforms to help make the most of his time outside of the classroom and urges current and future students to “be sure to make time to do the things you care about and enjoy.”
